Samantha LAY Student of the University of Queensland, Australia Going on exchange was always a high priority of things to do before I graduated university. Before going on exchange, I had already visited Hong Kong a few times while on holiday. I had always been intrigued about what it would be like to live in the fast-paced concrete jungle of Hong Kong. So, naturally when it came to selecting an exchange university, the Universtiy of Hong Kong was on the top of the list. Little did I know that it would be the best decision I made in my life. It was my first time since I started university where I was just a full-time student with no part-time job or extra-curricular commitments. This gave me plenty of time to explore my new home and was the perfect opportunity to enjoy life before starting the nine-to-five work life. I could not have imagined a better way to end my full-time studies. Even though my time there may have only been for a short period, I was able to make lifelong friends from Hong Kong and around the world. Some time has passed since I was on my exchange, but I still can clearly look back on the memories I made with great fondness. The adventures I had, the friendships I made, the places I visted all created an amazing experience I will never forget. Now that I am back at my home university, I recommend to all my friends and peers to go on an exchange in hopes that they will also get to enjoy the same happiness that I did. I am very thankful to the Australian Government and Cheung Kong Group for reducing the financial burden of going on exchange and allowing me to really enjoy my time in Hong Kong. I hope that many more students will be able to appreciate this generosity for many years to come!
