Gary YU Student of the University of Melbourne, Australia Last year, I was chosen to be one of the exchange students to study at Tsinghua University in China. As the best university in China, Tsinghua is extremely difficult to get in. I really appreciate Melbourne University for providing this unique opportunity for me and the CK Group for supporting my exchange through their Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Awards scholarship programme. This photo was taken in the Christmas party at Tsinghua held by the Foreign Student Society (I am the one on the right hand side). In this Christmas party, we ran our Aussie booth and presented some traditional Australian food and beverage including Vegemite and VB. Simon from Sydney University performed didgeridoo to showcase Aboriginal culture. At this party, I met students from other Australian city like Sydney and Adelaide and we worked together to promote Australian culture. Of course, I also made friends from other countries. We all had a great time sharing our life experience from our home countries. There was also a large number of local students who joined our party. They were excited to learn more about foreign culture and make friends with international students. Overall, it was a great opportunity to network with the students around the globe and everyone had a great time celebrating Christmas together. From this exchange study, I have developed stable friendship with both local and international students at Tsinghua. It was an amazing experience to study at the best and most sought-after university in the Mainland China. I have no doubt that this exchange experience will be one of the best memories in my life.
