Sheila Marie HUI Student of The University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Besides meeting lots of great people from different countries and having loads of fun times here in The University of Queensland ("UQ"), I have also found my home away from home because of UQ6 (my life group in Christian Campus Movement). I never thought that my life would be transformed by accepting an invitation to their Greet and Grill. That simple "yes" gave me a family away from home that cares for and loves me as a member of the family, even though I spent only a semester with them. They would arrange transportation for me to get home safely after a late night gathering; we would often write little notes of encouragement for one another during SWOTVAC; and we would also cook for one another. As someone who was away from home for the first time in her life, all these really warmed my heart and made me feel a sense of belonging. For these five months, I met them at least twice a week, and almost daily during SWOTVAC, exam period and post-exam period. This meant a lot because back home in Hong Kong, I only get to see my friends a few times a month at most. These frequent meetings also solidified our relationships with one another. Our five months together felt short, yet our friendship seems to have been built over a much longer period, given how we love and care for each other. Basically, meeting the people in UQ, especially in UQ6 (or CCM), is my greatest treasure and accomplishment during my exchange study, which helped me grow as an independent, compassionate and caring person.
