John KU Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong
I am participating in a one semester exchange to The University of Adelaide in South Australia. I am studying a variety of courses, including one Psychology course, one Philosophy course, one Japanese language course, and one Finance course. It is quite special to be able to study different subjects in one semester. It enables me to experience the academic cycle of four different majors, and improves my time management skill since all four courses have varying amounts of workload. Another thing that is really exciting about studying on exchange is the opportunity to go travelling. Good time management skill is required in order to balance heavy academic workload with time off for travelling. I travelled to quite a lot of places during the semester. Amongst all the destinations that I have visited, the place that I like most is Tasmania. I went to Tasmania for eight days during my Easter break. I stayed in a farm near Launceston (north of Tasmania) on the first few days. I experienced the most purified life on the farm , which is unimaginable for people living in a city. However, the only thing that I could not adapt to was that people go to bed very early at eight something every night. Finally, I have made friends with people from different cultures. I had flatmates from India, England and Australia. Living with them has allowed me to learn more about their cultures, and as flatmates, we learn what to expect from one another. Besides, I have also become good friends with a few Malaysian students studying in Adelaide. I am sure they we will become lifelong friends and we will continue to keep in touch in the future.
