CAI, Wei University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Thanks to the financial support of the 2010 Endeavour Australia Cheung Kong Research Fellowship and the invitation from Melbourne Law School, I was fortunate enough to spend six months doing visiting research at Melbourne Law School. It was one of the most unforgettable and valuable experiences of my life. I received pertinent and invaluable comments and suggestions on my research, as well as support on my academic activities from my supervisor, Professor Ian Ramsay and many other scholars in Australia. I also interviewed some academic staff and practitioners and received a better understanding on the hostile takeovers, takeover defenses and their impacts on the corporate governance in Australia. I took part in several seminars in Melbourne Law School and presented my research. Valuable feedback was given. Through this visiting study, significant progress was made on the thesis. The research outputs were published in the leading journals. I also got to know many international scholars and students who expanded my horizons and enhanced my academic connections significantly. Australia is a great nation, offering a wide variety of things to do and sights to see. Besides the academic activities, I also visited some cities in Australia. It is an exciting way to learn about Australian culture and history with trips around the nation. The beautiful sights and the enthusiastic people made this visiting research a more colorful journal.
